Memory Lane Support

No. Memory Lane has no photo upload path at all: Apple Photos stays the home of the pixels and the app works alongside it, keyed to each asset by its identifier. What syncs to your FCT account is the record you build: your notes about a photo, the people you have named and the links you drew between them. The downscaled insurance copy the app keeps so a record survives a deleted original lives in Memory Lane's own storage on that device and goes nowhere.

Your annotations and their timestamps, the identifier of the photo each one is about, the people you have named along with any alias and the contact you bound them to, and the links you made between memories and people. Those are in your own private space in your FCT account, so the record follows you between devices. Memory Lane requires an account.

Entirely on your device: Apple's Vision framework detects faces and the grouping is computed locally. Face data never leaves the device and is never synced: it is derived, so a new device recomputes it rather than downloading it. Identity is never auto-accepted; a recognised face is a proposal you confirm.

Only so that naming a person can be bound to the contact you pick, which is what lets Siri find memories of them by name later. Your contacts stay in Contacts. Memory Lane keeps a reference to the one you chose and nothing else, and the app works without the permission.

There is no third-party analytics SDK, no advertising identifier and no cross-app tracking. Memory Lane does report anonymous diagnostics to FCT, crash and performance data, a trail of screen and action names (never content), and feature-use counts, keyed to a random install identifier that is joined to no account and carries nothing you typed, viewed or stored.
